Peacock print & tail top from Regalia by Deepika

Love to all my oomphilicious readers, hope we all are doing good. Lately a lot has been running in my head in terms of experimenting with styles & I have quite a new posts coming up in line for which I am visibly happy & excited to share.

Keeping up with our oomph syndrome, I was wanting to play around with some Indian prints & flows while giving some westernized touch to the look . So I was looking around for a designer or a brand who can help me achieve my style & motive. Since previously while working & networking with certain designers & maintaining a cordial relationship with quite of them, I hopped through my personal contacts & considering my present requirements in styling, I recalled one of the designer based out of Delhi, who has some versatile collection in both Indian & Indo-western wear. So I decided to visit them at their studio named 'Regalia by Deepika' ( www.regaliabydeepika.com ) in South Delhi.

After going through their exquisite collection at the studio, I couldn't resist picking up not just this one but several other outfits at a go considering the upcoming Indian wedding season is also knocking at the door & I have few functions to attend. 

Also to my expectations of keeping my look minimalist & elegant at the same time, I could actually find & pair some interesting outfits here as per my mood & different occasions.

This one outfit which I picked for me as I  found it really interesting & distinctive is peacock print & tail top. The most interesting part in selecting this top as I stooped my eyes on it was first, it's beautiful ethnic print of peacock feather design all over & second & the most interesting part was it's flowy tail style with one side off shoulder & other side free flowy sleeves. 

The funniest part I experienced here is that this outfit is bit tricky to  wear & it took  me a while to understand from a merchandiser there as to how to get  into it, this uniqueness made me all the more excited to try it.

As you can see the look & flow, I was  totally impressed with the way it wrapped   around me. The stunning & feminine peacock print & this tail flowing on the ground, is something which makes it a unique statement piece in a fashion savvy girl's wardrobe. 

If you are the one who are bored of the regular lengths & styles & are willing to experiment with your look then an outfit this is a must try to break that monotony. Since I was searching for something distinctive, I found it here in this outfit.

Just in case you loved the outfit but doubt it as you cannot carry this long tail everywhere & anywhere ( I too had while buying but wait for the smart style fix figured out....read on..) then a quick solution to this doubt is by multi-styling the same outfit in a totally chic & casual avatar for already arrived winters. All I have done in this look is simply wrapped around the flowy tail part from the back & tucked inside my jeggings by giving it an asymmetric look & worn my denim jacket over it ( can be tried with any leather jacket too keeping the color contrast in mind), to invent a regular winter look out of it.

Desi Swag in flare pleated skirt

Back to the deets of this post which is all about bringing that desi OOMPH in a semi-ethnic pleated skirt with flair. If you are one of those girls who like to or want to experiment with their existing clothes by recreating a new look in them then I hope this post will help. Also this might solve your outfit syndrome of 'what to wear?' at next coming up wedding season, at least at one of those functions, I wish it does. :)

I bought this skirt some 7-8 yrs back from a store located at GK M block market in Delhi & hardly wore it once or twice & then like those many other clothes it was also dusting somewhere in my wardrobe.

Since I always loved this beautiful sequinned skirt from my collection, I always had in the my back of mind to team it up someday in an interesting way. It was then when I had to attend one of day's function from a friend's wedding diary & I had no new outfit ready that I thought of the experimenting & styling this skirt in an ethnic way. Fortunately, against my doubt of getting it altered first for a waist fit, it fitted in perfectly as I have lost weight.

So instead of teaming dupatta with usual suit & salwar, I teamed it up with this skirt & a blouse which I got designed & stitched in contrast keeping the color & print of skirt in mind. The off white & golden colored blouse with green mirror accessory (I sourced from a local store) hanging on the back dori went beautifully in sync with the flare pleated skirt in ankle length to complete that desi look.

The skirt is ornated with golden sequin work over the prints which enhanced it's ethnicity needed for the occasion. I accessorized it with a pair of simple jhumkis in copper golden color.

Also, the wide flare & multiple pleats in the skirt creates a visually beautiful twirl/ ghera, bringing out the femininity of the whole outfit.

Fabrics: the skirt is in cotton fabric ; blouse is designed using brocade fabric in a golden self design.

Creating different looks:

So all the gorgeous girlies hinting from the look, must know that any such sequin skirt in flare, other than this ethnic styling can also be teamed up with a simple white T shirt/ shirt or with a contrasting top for a semi casual day outing look, I have already tried this skirt with a white T shirt & a casual top too. ;)

So next time you find any such skirt with flared pleats & some Indian bling, don't think twice to grab it as it can be one of your wise wardrobe investment for styling in multiple ways & at different occasions with a swagger ;)

Multi Styling in a Red Dress

As the color Red itself has so much OOMPH, a red dress is another must have in any fashion freak girl's wardrobe.

If you are the one who has little too much obsession for this color & has a favorite short red dress hanging in your closet which u have already worn it twice or thrice but are bored or skeptical of repeating it again then this post is all about spreading that red oomph again by multi styling in a red dress.

Here are my 3 looks in which one can carry that single red outfit in different styles at different occasions, without being conscious of repeating it again:

LOOK 1: Simply teaming it with a black waist belt & high heels to bring out that balance in red look. 
The dress was purchased long back from Splash store in Pacific Mall, Delhi.

     

LOOK 2: Teaming that red dress with a short shrug over it to give a new skirt like edge in same style. A shade in grey or a black jacket/ shrug like this would do perfect pairing with this look.

LOOK 3: Top-like styling in that same red dress by tucking it inside a high waist palazzo pants to create a more formal & classic look.

Keeping the color balancing & contrasting in mind, that's how you can smartly do multi styling & can wisely repeat an outfit, never missing on that OOMPH ;)

Phulkari embroidered dupatta, a vibrant OOMPH! 

Another outfit from my Indian ethnic collection. This is about highlighting a plain black Pakistani style kurti by adorning it with ever beautiful bright colored Phulkari embroidered dupatta. Lately I have been quite obsessed with this gorgeously woven embroidery & it has undoubtedly been one of my most favorite purchases which I have already worn twice, yesterday while celebrating the festival of Lohri & once before at an Indian wedding function. 

Phulkari which literally means 'flower work' has its origin etched in the culture of Punjab. Thus this Phulkari embroidered dupatta also added an oomph to my festivities & turned out to be my perfect #ootn for celebrating Lohri all Punjabi style. However, not limiting to its origin, it has sprang up like an evergreen style statement in all over Indian as well as Pakistani fashion too.

As you can see the floral design & colorful shades of this embroidered dupatta can even make mediocre look exquisite. Thus I have styled my Phulkari dupatta with a plain black Pakistani kurti that I got exclusively designed with some cut styling trends in front & back (leaf cut shaped neck & kite cut in back). The heaviness of threads, colors & mirror work in this dupatta is enough to accentuate & highlight any single & dull color, making the whole attire look vibrant. For more girlish look, its preferable to carry it with blacks & whites to balance the look as the work on dupatta itself has so many colors speaking out. 

So for this wedding season, all the dolls who have been seeking the answer to their most commonly used statement- 'kya pehnu?' despite having a wardrobe spilling with clothes (a usual thing with all of us :P ), you can copy this simple yet vibrant look to bring out that ethnic oomph, all you need to buy is an evergreen Phulkari embroidered dupatta. (I bought it from Chandni Chawk market, Delhi)

Indian Ethnic OOMPH!

When it's Indian wedding season taking over, you can't miss getting all dolled up in your beautiful ethnic outfits.

That's how my initial whole week of the month was spent, celebrating the nuptials of my friends. Back to back functions, no sleep, ganging up & chilling with friends & of course my favorite part- dressing up all Indian & ethnic with that OOMPH, *sob* I do miss all that fun now! :/ #tbt

So here's sharing the look & what I wore at the wedding. Details below: 

                                   

                

BOTTOM: The lehenga you see here along with dupatta in net fabric is what I bought ready made from a store.

UPPER: Rather than going with a regular cropped blouse with it, I thought of pairing it with a long kurti, for which I bought this brocade fabric in similar shade of orange & got it designed for me.

ACCESSORY: Keeping up with the ethnic look & colors, I accessorized it with a designer rounded & embellished clutch (purchased from an exhibition in Delhi), a golden pair of carved earrings, finger ring & matching bangles.

STYLING TIP: 

Look 1 -With Dupatta
Just in case you are thinking to carry a similar dupatta with this kind of full necked long kurti look this wedding season then there is no need to accessorize it with any heavy neck piece, your dupatta along with ear piece & other accessories would just do perfect.
Look 2- Without Dupatta
But if you are planning to go without a dupatta in this outfit, then you must jewel around your neck & accessorize it with a heavy necklace too, to give you that royal Rajputana look. :)

Monochrome in a Check Print!

In sync with my last post as i mentioned, I am featuring casual styling in printed outfits.

As we all know monochrome & check are forever in fashion & can never go out of trend, provided, as I have been stating, one knows how to keep the balance of the overall look & style.

This one is about monochrome check printed divider dress & how you can simply & casually flaunt it.

If you see it closely, its a complete single outfit which isn't actually open ended at the bottom but it's a divider dress.

PURPOSE: For all those girls who are looking to wear a casual yet feminine above knee length dress at a college/ shopping day/ while hanging out with friends but on some days are not comfortable sporting a skirt, this kind of divider dress in your wardrobe would just solve your concern & will give you the look you desire. Also those who have a very lean figure & looking for dresses for their body type, must go for this kind of lose fitted from top & bottom dress for casual styling.

STYLING TIP: With a monochrome print as I said you can never go wrong in styling. Team it up with your casual no heel bellies/ sneakers ( my bellies are from Stelatoes) & any single colored regular big hand bag ( the one I am carrying here is from Baggit) & you are good to sport your casual yet stylish look.

This again is not so expensive outfit (just for INR750) which I bought from a same store at GK, M Block Market in a sale season as i mentioned in my previous post too.

My Personal Shopping Style:  I am not a restrictive thinker when it comes to shopping. I can shop from everywhere & anywhere, all I go for is a look of the outfit & it has stand out for me while wearing it whether it is from a local store/ street market or a high end brand. What matters is your sense of choice, a right amount of confidence to carry an outfit, balance in your styling & of course that OOMPH to turn the heads on. ;) 

Its a Printed Dress Syndrome!

Hi readers!, Thank you all for showing such a positive interest & love for my first post on the blog. 

Keeping the OOMPH SYNDROME rolling, this post & the other one following will be all about bidding goodbye to our summer wardrobe. Winters knocking down the streets, we all are surely unpacking our furry & cozy dresses, jackets, pullovers, boots etc whereas its time to bid farewell to our summery dresses & clothes.

While shoving inside my summer clothes too, I came across two of my latest casual outfits in different prints (for another outfit with monochrome print come back to checkout the upcoming post) which I think is a must have in any girls closet who always like to keep up with basic casual chic styling & is looking for some not so expensive summer dresses to wear at college/ at shopping/ when hanging out with friends.

Here I am sporting a look in printed frock style pleated dress which gives a cute feminine statement when styled with balance.

If you see this back zipped dress, it's in all over dense print reflecting the earthly tones of three colors ( peach, grey & white) so I preferred to keep it more casual as it is best to not to accessorize it much. A bag (hand bag/ sling depending on the occasion), wrist band (metallic or single colored)/ watch, & heels matching any color tone of the dress (not too high for keeping it casual) would do perfect justice to this kind of outfit. I have worn it with a pair of dual colored symmetrically bisecting heels from Jabong.com. 

While adorning yourself in any outfit with all over print & to keep it simple & not to go overboard, you can keep this look-balancing personal style tip of mine in mind.

I bought this dress just for INR600 from a local store in GK-1 M Block market which is one of my favorite markets to shop in Delhi as all the shopaholic girls of Delhi know that you can get hands on some of the awesome local, branded as well as designer stuff (including clothes, accessories, bags etc) here that too in all the price range falling within the brackets of low to high. 

Smart Shopping Tip Here: Ladies just in case if you are planning to do some street side shopping here, don't forget to sleeve up on some of your bargaining skills, it does work here! ;)
